Looking for Fun

Looking for happiness is sometimes what you really need to do. When you are feeling lonely and life is just blah, sometimes you must take matters into your own hands and find happiness. And sometimes when you are looking for it you can find it in simple ways. It doesn't have to be in grand vacations or big parties. When you take the time every day to find the fun in the simple it really does change your perspective.
For example, this past week I was feeling lonely and just blah. So below are a few moments of when I took time to just be in the moment and very happy.
Sitting with Grayson at our kitchen table with no TV or music on in the background, our paintbrushes were in our hands, and I looked over and Grayson had this sweet smile and a serious look in his eyes as he was painting his ceramic dog, Champ. It was the sweetest moment that I wanted to imprint in my brain. All weekend I was searching for happiness and at that moment, I found it. I found it in the simple. After we painted our ceramic dogs, we then of course had to create a bed and some toys for them. So, we got out the construction paper and went to work.
It was 8:30 at night and Grayson had just spent the afternoon with his best friend so when he came home, he was slap-happy and we still needed to get a shower in before bed. Grayson is currently in serial casting to help with his toe walking so showers right now take two of us and when you are slap-happy and the giggles just kick in makes it even more hilarious. We just went with it and a shower that normally takes ten minutes ended up taking close to twenty-five minutes or longer, but the laughter made it so worth it. You know that moment your kiddo starts laughing and they just can't stop and it's the laugh that goes straight to the heart, so you have no choice, but to join in.
We walked into Hobby Lobby and the greeter looked at Grayson and asked, "What's happened, buddy?" She was questioning because of the casts on both of his feet. "He is working on getting his feet better," I answered her and we headed to the craft section. As we walked away Grayson asked, "Why didn't you tell her why I'm working on my feet." I looked at him and said, "I wasn't sure you wanted me to tell a complete stranger that you toe walk." He looked right at me and said, "You can tell them why." I was so proud of him in that moment. If it were me at seven years old, I would be embarrassed to be walking around with casts on my feet. Grayson on the other hand and handling it so amazing. He knows this is what needs to be done to help him and he's not letting it slow him down.
On Sunday we went to lunch at El Maquay because I was in the mood for some chips and salsa. Sometimes, a girl just needs salsa! Our waiter was the sweetest man ever and he made Grayson laugh throughout our whole meal. It was busy, yet he made the time to kneel and ask who was winning our games of tic tac toe. It was a great reminder that there are sweet people out there. Was our wait longer than normal, yes, but I knew that was because he was also taking his time with the other customers in the restaurant.
Thank you for taking the time to read my moments of happiness over the week and I encourage you to take the time every day to remember to make moments that count.

Always smile,
Michelle
