Trex, the Traveling Dino discovers Teamwork

I created this Trex story as a Christmas gift for my sister, which is why it includes her name and my nieces' names. If I were to publish it, I would alter the names.

Grayson & Trex Learn Teamwork

“Hey, Grayson let me help!” Noah said eager to help. 

“I got it, Noah.” Grayson said as a wheel fell off his boxcar.  

“If you are not going to let me help then I’m going home”. Noah said as he threw his tools on the ground and walked away.  

“Fine! I can do it all by myself, I don’t need your help.”  Grayson yelled back at him frustrated. 

He tried again to get the wheel attached, but he couldn’t figure it out, so he left the garage to go inside to grab a peanut butter sandwich.  Those always made him feel better. He sat down on the kitchen stool next to his favorite stuffy, Trex. 

“Trex, why can’t I figure this out?” He asked him. 

All of sudden Grayson felt a gust of wind and knew his favorite stuffed animal Trex had come to life. 

“Trex, I’m so happy you’re awake, I need your help!” Grayson exclaimed. 

“Why?  Weren't you and Noah working on your boxcar?” He asked. 

“We were, but then he left mad at me.” 

“Why was he mad at you?” Trex asked.

“I don’t know, but that’s ok I will figure this out on my own.” Grayson said confidently. 

“Come on, there is someone I’d like you to meet.” Trex said as he jumped into Grayson’s arms. 

The next thing Grayson knew he was twirling around in a tornado traveling through time and going into seeing the track. 

When they landed, he looked around and was shocked by where they had landed.  All around him were cars, mechanics, and a giant racetrack.

“Are we at Nascar?” Grayson asked.  

“Of course!” Trex answered, “Follow me.”

Grayson followed him to where they were in front of the M & M Car.  He looked around and there she was!

“You’re Melissa Fitzgerald, the famous Nascar driver!” He said with awe in his voice and then exclaimed, “I am your biggest fan!”

“Hey little dude, what brings you to the pit?” She asked. 

“The pit?” Grayson asked, confused.

“Yep, this is where all the action happens.” She said with her hands showing Grayson around the pit. 

“I thought the action happened on the track.” Grayson replied. 

“Oh no, it all happens right here.” She said,

“What do you mean?” Grayson asked?

“There’s Josh, he is my crew chief, and the one who calls all the shots and the one encouraging me through my earpiece.  When I feel like I want to stop, he’s there telling me to keep going.”  

“There’s Haley, she is the fastest tire changer you will ever see. You want her on your team.”  

“There’s Sofie, she is my tire carrier and helps Haley with the tires, without her Haley wouldn’t be as fast.” 

“There’s Hannah, she’s my gas girl. Without her I would have no fuel to keep going.”  

“We do need a utility man to clean the windshields, are you up for the challenge?” She asked Grayson.

“Yes! I had no idea you needed all these people to help you during the race.” Grayson said. 

“Without my team, I would not be as great as I am at driving.  We all need each other to help win the races.  If I did it all by myself, I would lose every game.”  She told Grayson. 

Grayson thought about how he was treating Noah.  

“That’s what I’ve been doing, I can’t do it all by myself. No wonder Noah left mad.”  

“The race is beginning; let’s all get into position.” Josh said from around the corner behind the M&M car.”

“That was the coolest race ever!” Grayson said. 

“Now go win your race!” Melissa said, giving him two thumbs up. 

Grayson grabbed Trex and said, “Let’s go find Noah!” 

The tornado started twirling and they returned to the kitchen.  

“I love you Trex, thank you for helping me realize I need to ask for help and that we can’t do it all by ourselves.” Grayson said as he gave Trex the biggest hug.

Grayson ran to Noah’s house and rang the doorbell and when Noah answered the door Grayson said, “I’m so sorry Noah that I was doing all the work. I really do need your help. Can we be a team again?” 

“Of course!  Let’s go, we have lots to do.” Noah said as he started running towards Grayson’s house. 

They ran back to the garage and started working like crazy and the next day they were ready for the race.

 “We make a great team!”  Grayson said.
